Lost 56 pounds doing little to nothing-now what?
Oh you know that friend of your's you have been helping promote his local business? Yeah, the one that owns a gym. He and his wife have been trying to get you in there for some time now and you don't have an excuse.
And John just bought me a pink dumb bell, my reaction, "what's that for?" John "you" Me "What am I suppose to do with that?!" John, the smart man he is did not answer, just smiled.
So I contact Dan at Iron Junkie Training in Jacksonville and tell him I want to tone now that I have lost and I still have about 11 pounds that could come off without hurting my feelings any. He answers all my questions patiently and encourages me to come by and check it out. Makes me a heck of "Friends Only" deal. I do a lot of word of mouth advertising for him, so I figure we are good, lol. And wait until the kiddies see me all toned up-they will be lined up waiting for thier turn to be a Junkie!
I go by check it out and told him I would let him know, needed to run by John first on schedules and such. John recommends I go in the morning-you realize that requires me to get up earlier right? He says it will make me feel better thru the day then working out in the evening. I am already so happy I annoy myself, but sure we will give it a try.
So I ask Dan if he has any morning appointments available and I would like to try 8am. I sign up for Monday at 8am 1/9/12.
I get there early, wanted to make sure of my timing, walk a few laps to get the cardio going and then he shows me some different reps on upper, lower and some crunches. He says he took it easy on my first day. Well I guess, but my couch potato body says different. I leave and clean-up and get ready for work and I am 2 minutes late. Going to have to do even earlier so I have time to get ready for work. Dan recommends 7:15am (UHG! REALLY? OK!) I am so pumped I go walk Monday night too...
Tuesday I am a little sore and it's hard to go from sitting to standing and vice versa. I went and walked around Fresh with some friends and helped them shop and then soaked in a hot bubble bath-ahhh.
Wednesday I was suppose to be there at 7:15am I got there around 7:20am, I'll have to adjust travel time and ALARM time. I told him not to make fun of me if I cry doing the Kettle Bell squats I was hurting. So he decreased my reps on that one and we did more upper body than lower and walked before and after my sets. I actually loosened up after a few reps and was less sore. But then sitting on it for 8 hours is not beneficial. I took Arnica Montana last night, hot shower and then put something on my thighs that felt like I had put a hot stove on them. Ah feel the burn....
I told John I needed to buy gloves for for the weights and he felt my head for fever, lol. He says first you call your bag a GYM BAG and now you need LIFTING GLOVES! Yep, it's me but better!
We decided it was too cold to work out Thursday and I have a 7:15am Hair appt Friday. I will have to do a lot of cardio this weekend and my butt will be kicked Monday morning all over again. But I think I am addicted now. 7:15am I GOT THIS! And I do feel better during the day-I also want to eat more!
Well until Monday...
I walked a little bit Saturday while waiting on Sophia and the kids for lunch.
Got home and John had bought me some new workout pants and socks, the socks didn't fit but the pants were perfect and has purple on them!! Will have to find a cute shirt to match.
Monday morning could not wait to get to the gym! Walked in with a great attitude and excitement and meant it. Did lots of legs, little arms and some crunches. Need to increase my weight on the crunches, too easy. My left arm gave out on me on my last few reps, which is weird since I am left handed, figured that one would be stronger. My left leg is, from driving a standard! We also did my body fat, it was at 30.? which isn't too bad, the high end of normal is 28. That was exciting to me! Getting into a normal range will be so doable in 2 months! Went shopping for cute top to match cute pants and some gloves. The cute top was WAY easier then finding a glove that fit my short fat hand(they will always be short and fat, I inherited them that way). I tried on a lot of different sizes, shapes, men's, women's and I finally bought a pair of winter gloves with a little bit of a grip. John found them for me and the seem to be perfect. I also bought a new sports bra, mine is a little old and worn and roomy. I picked out a compression one, one size smaller than the one I had. It's too small!! Will have to go up a size.
Nike has shoes that work with an IPhone as a Pedometer, looked at those and the wrist band with the thing you can add to your other shoes. LOL! I don't even have an IPhone, but I plan on getting one soon. It's the Nike + line, very cool idea.
I work out M, W & F, so I have to get up at 6am on those days. I normally sleep until after 8am. Tuesday I woke up on my own at 6AM! Went back to sleep eventually and then did not want to get up at 8. Should have went for a walk...
Flo came for an unexpected visit Tuesday and I felt low on Iron, Energy and Enthusiasm, I raced home for a Steak and Red Wine STAT!
6am Wednesday alarm goes off and I am up and ready to go! Not even sure I hit the snooze. Layered up since the gym is heated and cooled by Mother Nature and headed that way. Did the Kettle Bell Sit/Stands fine with a bigger weight. Got to the leg press and when I came down with it I had a sharp pain under my left rib, rested and tried it again, pain was still there so we decided I might not need to do those. Worked on Calves and did laps between reps. Did crunches with increased weight just fine and my rib pain was only there when I stretched upwards. Rubbed some linament on the spot and went to get ready for work. When I bend down from a sitting position to tie my shoes my rib area hurts from the pressure. When I lean sideways it hurts. Other than that is fine.
6am Friday I was glad to get up, could not sleep well, every time I moved my side woke me up. Took an advil and got ready for the gym. Told Dan when I got there I just wanted to stretch and do some cardio. He recommend I go see a Chiropractor I might have a rib popped out of place. Did a few stretches to loosen up and walked and left early. Dan got me an appt with Dr. Rigsby at 10am. Dr. R confirmed it was a dislocated rib, I think he said #9?? maybe. Lower left anyway. He worked on it and said I would feel like a million bucks tomorrow. Stay away from the leg press, do squats instead, until I get my core stronger. Yes Sir!!
When I could find a comfortable position I would stay there as long as I could Friday night. Alarm went off to go to Yoga and I decided I was still hurting too much. Did make it to Fresh for the Healthy Shopping Class and after standing on my feet for 2 hours my ribs were killing me and I was having muscle spasms. Tried on clothes that night, also wore me out and made me sore.
Sunday rib was better just tender. Dan checked in with me to make sure we were still on for Monday-HECK YEA! Need to work the soreness out and stretch.
Monday was awesome, didn't kill me but worked me at a good pace and weight. Felt better leaving then when I got there!!
John's father passed away Monday afternoon and so I didn't get back into the gym for the rest of the week. Maybe my rib had more time to adjust, seems a little better on Friday. Monday will be ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!
Well I have been going nearly a month, I have hardly made it 3 times a week each week due to something or another, tho I do try. This week I have an appointment I made months ago and had t reschedule due to a death in the family and they didn't have any Tue or Thur open. Dan is going to let me come in on Tues instead of Wed, so maybe I can hit 3 times this week! I am really enjoying it and miss it when I don't go. Dan told me last week he could see some definition in my shoulders and back, wahoo! Today Dan let me work out on my own, just telling me what order to do what and how many reps. He kept a close eye on me to make sure I was using the right form and such so as not to get hurt but pretty much left me to do it with out spotting. I think I did ok, nothing hurts and nothing is broken, lol.
Weight still going down, Cholesterol is going down, HDL is going up!!!! I think I am on the right track!
Got my Purple Junkie Shirt!! MEDIUM LADIES!!!! And it looks good on me!
Told him Wednesday it was getting too easy, lol-I live on the edge ;-) He quickly informed me that Monday we were increasing weights! Friday I have an overhead pull that kicks my butt, I had to go down on the weights on that one, only one I just have the worst time completing-frustrating.
Going to try to find a free yoga class Saturday morning to try it out...
Yoga was very cool and a little sexual to me. Saturday was a fairly easy class. I woke up a little sore all over Sunday so decided to go try another yoga class. Went to Meditation first, my foot and leg fell asleep in the middle of it and it hurt! Vinaysa Yoga was being practices which is not for beginners by all means, lol. I made adjustments. It was warm in the room and I broke a sweat, felt good. Was not sore Monday when I went to gym. Dan increased my weights Monday! Going back to yoga Wednesday evening.
Friday the "superman"move hurt my right knee some, Saturday we did lot of stretching with the knee in unusual positions, Sunday my knee hurts and is popping when I walk. Taking the day off from exercise.
Feel much better today and we increased my weights on my leg workout this morning and my reps and I did good. The last 2 out of 5 reps were hard, but it was a good burn! Went to Chiropractor said everything looks good today. 30 more days until I leave on my trip!
Did something to my right Calf! Still sore on Thursday, Friday should be interesting at the gym then sneaking in a yoga class Saturday morning between volunteer gigs!
Monday Morning-uhg, I partied like a rock star all weekend long and was on my feet on asphalt most of it as well. I was tight, had to stretch before I could do anything. Sluggish from all the junk I put in my body over the last few days, mostly consisting of adult beverages. Hey, evey bloody mary comes with it's own salad! I had a lot of salad...
I skipped Friday morning, my sinuses were not liking the rain and un be knownst to me, Flo was back wreaking havoc. Damn Her! Did not get to go do yoga all weekend because I worked all weekend so Monday will be a new day!!
Time to pay again, renewed with the same deal as the first so I am in like "Flynn" for 2 more months. Told Dan I did not want to start anything new until I get back. So for the next 2 weeks we will just keep doing the same 3 day split.
Nice to be able to walk outside-welcome Spring!
3/26/12 26.? BMI DOWN 4 Points and 2 points from HEALTHY!!
Going on Vacation will start a new one when I get back with my new goals in mind!
