I love eating and drinking out with friends and my favorite guy.
We frequent all types of places with all kinds of atmosphere and service. My tastes run from Chili Cheese Dogs to Ceviche' and Steak. Pre-mixed cocktails to designer drinks. Appreciate the well hosted dive as well as the epic service of fine dining.
First of all your host/hostess (if you have them) should be knowledgeable and efficient, not just a pretty face. Looks are not everything when you are waiting to be seated or making a reservation. Second, your bartenders (if you have them-if I am dining with you I will assume you do) need to be entertaining and up-to-date on the latest concoctions and friendly. These two positions are going to be the first impressions of your business from the inside.
Your hostess need to seat people in a section they know a server will be right with them. Nothing ruins a dining experience faster then sitting at a table for 3-7 minutes before anyone has acknowledged your existence.
Servers, another place where looks aren't near as important as intellect, knowledge of the product and a genuine servants heart. Not everyone has it in them to be a Server, so don't, there are other occupations.
Kitchen staff are the artist you never really see (in most cases). Chefs and cooks create the meal you did not want to cook yourself. Most of them have a God given talent to create cuisine you would want to sing about. Even if it is a chili cheesedog, if they forget your cheese you aren't going to be happy. If your plate comes out with visual appeal it will make you smile.
Bad Service can Ruin Good Food and Good Service can make not so great food a bit easier to swallow.
I pay to go out and have an Experience each and every time, I want my moneys worth.
