It has been a long, long, long time since I have been that sick for that long and I hope it is a long, long, longer time before it happens again. I don't know how I got it, but whomever I got it from, I hope you are still sick! I have no mercy for your soul! John has a great bedside manner and took very good care of me w/o getting it himself. Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheeses to making my Theraflu concoction and keeping up with when I needed the next dose to running and getting whatever I needed the minute I mentioned it. He's a keeper! I worked! I only missed an hour of work and only then because Mrs. Adams came up here and sent me home. You just don't argue with her. I did sneak one little brief nap on the couch one day too. Yeah it was THAT BAD! I hope none of you had it or get it. The Plague I tell you!
The Cook Family Christmas was held the Saturday BEFORE this year instead of After. Cousins Amy, Casey, Brandon and myself along with Amanda and Tony all got together the night before and had a pool party at the local Holiday Inn. That was a BLAST! We will definitely do it again and hope more cousins make it. Saturday I went to help Aunt Barbara get everything ready-I even wore an Apron! There are pictures somewhere. Well we know how much I am in a kitchen, I ended up with a spoon spinning in the mixer in a metal bowl!! Aunt Barb to the rescue! After that I was relagated to slicing lemons and limes and filling the butter dishes. I also served as Greeter! I love my family! Food was consumed. Then we had the lively gift exchange and many gifts were given only to be taken away. This is always so much fun! I ended up with a lovely scarf (Thank you Amy for being a good sport). Then some of us stayed for Wine Spritzers.
It was a lovely day and we decided we needed another get together soon! Chloe is in a Play in February-that will be the gathering.
The Chance Family Christmas is always on Christmas day with the usual suspects and the occasional guests. This year we had Mr. Bailey from the store. John went to pick him up and off we went to his mother's house. The traditional meal was served with a Greenburg turkey!! Judy, John and Julie all contribute to the menu. I contribute to the eating. Food was consumed. Then we watched the kids and Judy and Paul open gifts. We had decided not to exchange gifts and just buy for Katie and Alex. Even Rupert made a haul with a new doggie bed, collar, chew toy and a bone. The men watched football and the ladies went upstairs to listen to Records on and old record player. Such fun for us older ladies, I think we bored Katie to sleep.
I am very blessed to have all that I have in the form of family!
Now that we have survived the holidays and I have survived the plague I don't want to forget to be Thankful everyday. Gratitude and kindness are not just for Christmas! God Bless each and everyone of you.
